Link Popularity is a term that simply means: A measure of the quantity and quality of sites that link to your site. Link Popularity is very important because the quantity and quality of links on your site is the main way your site will get indexed on search engines and land higher up on the list - driving more traffic to your site. Link Popularity is measured in two ways: Quantity, and Quality. Quantity of links is very important. The more you have linking to your site, the better, but quality also matters. The popular Search Engine, Google, gives each indexed page a page rank, and the higher the page rank the better. You will want to have higher-ranking pages link to you than the lower ranking pages. The more links you have and the higher their page rank, the higher your site's page rank will be. Page rank is one factor for determining placement on a Google search. You also need to keep in mind, that not only does page rank matter, but also the subject matter of the link. Search Engines place a higher quality value on links that pertain to your web site subject matter. You might ask, "How do I get good Link Popularity on my site?" Linking is a long process, so plan to spend a few minutes on a daily basis over about a 3 month time period to add links to your site and to research more linking partners.
